Could my niche in an already saturated area have any chance of being profitable?

Say thousands and thousands of people are selling product A. It is widely known that trying to sell product A will almost inevitably result in a loss.

But, say I found a slight difference that only a few other people have also noticed.

How hard would it be to breakthrough the thousands of sellers of product A and be seen?

Even though there are thousands selling A, there are only a few selling this version of A that would be of great use to certain people.

Thousands is really a crazy number. I think you have to ask yourself how likely it is that your differentiation is enough to move you to the first page of relevant and frequently used search terms and how much PPC it’s going to take to make that happen.

Hi,

If your listing is new, it will be very difficult to work your way into good positioning in an oversaturated niche. Some have said that you will need to spend a lot on advertising. This may work but if you do not have a lot of reviews, you will be wasting money. Nobody/hardly anybody will buy something that has no reviews, unless you are cheaper than the competition but even then it is a hard sell. This strat is not one I would recommend if you are branding. If you are white labeling, then sure, go ahead and race to the bottom.

The real objective here is to prove your value proposition to the consumer. If you noticed that slight difference and it is innovative enough to be desirable to the public then your listing needs to focus on educating the consumer to why yours is better. If it is truly better, you will see results. Find niche keywords and advertise on them hard. Plan on losing money for the first 3 months and then breaking even for the 6 months after that. Profit will most likely come in 9 months to a year.

Try sending products to vine or do off Amazon promoting. Anything that will get you reviews talking about the new feature. Be careful not to break Amazon policy on this though.

I hope that helps.

So it's a niche within a niche? I presume if it's keyword specific and theres enough sales and search volume of that variation with few competition then I would look into it further.
