PPC is it really worth it?

I tried everything and my ACOS is still too high and there just does not seem any way to reduce it. I break even every week because it just eats up margin. tried Facebook ads and that seemed to work better, but it's not exactly clear since I can't trace it back easily. I just notice a clear uptick in sales. I even hired a guy to manage the PPC and he's done a good job reducing it but its not enough. 2 months now. Advertising should not be this expensive. Has anyone given up on PPC?

You pretty much have to do PPC now in order to maintain rank across a wide variety of keywords. Have you checked your indexing vs. your top competition to see what the difference is? This is a good indicator of where you are in the world...if you need to focus on heavy expansion or simply keep a presence/defensive position/product targeting...things like that.
