Do you have to register and file VAT returns if you sell in the UK?

So I've never sold in the UK before. I'm curious to what everyone does as far as VAT goes. Do you file every 3 months or whatever or does Amazon and other marketplaces collect/remit it for you so you don't have to do anything?
